Michael Polyzoides

Michael Polyzoides

was born in Graz. He is currently finishing his Master’s degree with Michael Sanderling in Frankfurt after completing his Bachelor studies with honors in the class of Bonian Tian. Other influential teachers were Heinrich Schiff, Angelika Merkle and David Geringas. He received numerous awards, among them the “Martin Hornstein Interpretation Prize”, the 1st national Prize at “Jugend musiziert” and the honorary prize at “Allegro Vivo”. He also won the the 23rd Competition of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben and has ever since been playing a cello by G. Guadagnini (circa 1790).

As a soloist he played with the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne, the Il Concerto Accademico, Murcia and the Loh Orchestra Sondershausen, among others. In addition to solo projects, he is dedicated to contemporary music and chamber music. Currently he is a member of the Frankfurt am Main Opera and Museum Orchestra.

Concerts as a soloist and chamber musician in large concert halls such as the Cologne Philharmonie, the Gasteig Munich, the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Konzerthaus Vienna, both in other European countries as well as China. His concerts were broadcast on German, Austrian, Greek and Czech radio and television.
